If I Could Change One Thing
In the book, The Outsiders, the one thing I would change if I could would be Johnny living. Johnny and Ponyboy were fighting the Socs one night and Bob, a soc, was drowning Ponyboy in a fountain at the lot. Johnny was scared and stabbed Bob and in order to stay out of trouble, Ponyboy and Johnny ran away to Windrixville and stayed at an abandoned church for a couple of days. One day Dallas Winston picked them up at the church and took them to a local restaurant to get some food. When they got back to the church, they noticed the church was on fire and there were some teachers and kids outside of it. One of the teachers noticed some kids were missing and realized they were in the burning church. Ponyboy and Johnny ran into the church to save the kids but when all the kids got out a piece of the roof came down on Johnny which resulted in Dallas going in to help him. Ponyboy made it out okay but Johnny and Dallas ended up in the hospital. Dallas was out of the hospital within a couple of days, but Johnny was in critical condition and they knew he would not make it. The night he died their gang, known as the greasers, were all in shock. Dallas went and robbed a gas station and when the police came after him, he pointed and unloaded gun and he was killed. Johnny was the person who got along with everyone especially Dallas, so losing him was affected the greasers tremendously.
